While I love the design concepts for this project, as a beekeeper I'm horrified by the lack of understanding of bees, beekeeping and hive design.  I've written a post explaining some of the more fundamental failings here:

Of course, I always appreciate any efforts to get more people interested in beekeeping at a time when bees are under threat - but this kind of design exacerbates the problems, rather than improving life for the bees.
