Far-future research dialogue by Philips Design

While working on robot illustrations, one of the illustrators found this amazing robot dog. It seems that the dog as an robotic model keeps coming back to me (see post 1 and 2). This time it concerned Big Dog or as the website from the manufacturer (Boston dynamics) reads; The most advanced rough-terrain robot on earth. And to be completely honest I was amazed when I saw Big Dog in action. The ultimate goal, according to Boston Dynamics, was to build a robot that could go anywhere people and animals can go. The program for developing Big Dog was funded by Darpa, an organisation with a mission to "to maintain the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent technological surprise from harming our national security by sponsoring revolutionary, high-payoff research bridging the gap between fundamental discoveries and their military use." I could write a lot more on this topic, but maybe it is best to watch the movie (posted in the left column or here) yourself, it is as amazing as scary...
