Far-future research dialogue by Philips Design
I'm very impressed with the design and ideas incorporated into this Philips kitchen.
However, instead of seeing oil based plastics as inevitable, we should be considering the many other and less environmentally damaging alternatives - waxed paper, polysterenes made of fungi, leaves, hemp, wood, cardboard etc.
The clever use of these materials could completely avoid the need for the use of conventional plastics in the future.
As da Vinci once said, "Simplicity is the ultimate in sophistication", and the materials we should be using should be as simple and/or as natural as possible.
